Here’s how to turn it on:

This Wagon is the UK’s Fastest Car Under £30,000

Throughout the years, Americans have been able to purchase an impressive selection of cars that the rest of the world could not. The Pontiac GTO Judge, first-generation Dodge Viper, and full-size pickups are all cars not sold in countries like Britain that would make the subjects quake in their boots. So we can give them this- the 170 mph Vauxhall Insignia VXR SuperSport.

Set to make a live debut at the 2013 Frankfurt Motor Show in September, the VXR SuperSport is the performance version of Vauxhall’s Insignia, taken from parent automaker General Motors. Under the hood sits a 2.8-liter V6, making 325 horsepower, routed through a 6-speed manual transmission to an advanced all-wheel drive system.

Zero-to-sixty is listed at 6.1 seconds for the wagon, and 5.9 seconds for the hatchback variant. The VXR SuperSport also features a limited slip differential, an updated interior, and 3D navigation system. Most importantly, the SuperSport fetches £29,745 for the hatch and has a top speed of 170 mph, making it the fastest car in the UK under £30,000. Meanwhile, the full-size wagon fetches £31,049.

Another interesting fold is the relationship between GM’s Vauxhall/Opel divisions and Buick. The Insignia has gone onto become the basis for the current Buick Regal, which will feature AWD but the option of two four-cylinder engines for 2014. A Regal with AWD and the potent V6 could make for a compelling American performance sedan.
