Subaru Adds Two More "Top Safety Pick Plus" Models to Lineup

Subaru is enjoying robust showroom traffic and increased market share, and recently surpassed Volkswagen on the U.S. sales chart. Now, new safety ratings from the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) give car buyers two more reasons to consider buying a Subaru.

Based on new IIHS crash-test results, the 2014 Impreza and 2014 XV Crosstrek have earned the Institute's "Top Safety Pick Plus" rating. To achieve this rating, a vehicle must perform at an "Acceptable" or "Good" level in the new small overlap frontal-impact crash test, which is designed to measure crash protection when the front left corner of a vehicle impacts a tree, utility pole, or oncoming traffic. Additionally, the tested vehicle must rate as "Good" in the four other crash tests conducted by the IIHS: moderate overlap front; side; roof strength; and head restraints and seats.
