RK Auction To Feature Dale Earnhardt Sr. Nova, One-of-a-Kind 1000-hp Mercedes-Benz
Tune in to some auctions, and you tend to see the same cars over and over again. Chevelles, Chargers, and Mustangs – it all becomes a little redundant and a lot less special. One auction that has not fallen victim to such a problem is the RK Auctions down in Charlotte. Their auction, set for October 31st to November 3rd, the cars includes a 1-of-1 Mercedes-Benz supercar, Rally Fighter, and racecars driven by Dale Earnhardt and Mario Andretti. Consider our interest piqued.
At the Charlotte Convention center, there will be a ridiculous collection of sportscars and classic racecars crossing the auction block. Where else are you going to find the 1974 IndyCar driven by Mario Andretti, the 1977 race-winning Chevrolet Nova NASCAR driven by Dale Earnhardt Sr., or the 1977 McLaren M26 that James Hunt drove to his final ever F1 win?
If race-winning rides aren’t your thing (or are out of your tax bracket), there is this 1995 LOTEC Mercedes-Benz C1000 (below). Built at the request of a wealthy businessman from the United Arab Emirates, it cost $3.2 million to construct and features a 1000-horsepower twin-turbo V8. That helps it get from 0-60 in just 3.2 seconds, on its way to a hypothetical top speed of 268 mph. Oh yeah, and it’s the only vehicle of its kind. In the world.
Also crossing the block is a Local Motors Rally Fighter (that bonkers white-and-gold thing you see pictured), a Porsche 935, 1954 Mercedes-Benz 300SL Gullwing, a 2012 Lexus LFA Nurburgring, and more Corvettes, ‘Cudas, Camaros and Mustangs than you can shake a stick at.
