Porsche 911 GT3 RS Hitting Showrooms Next Year
We’ve heard a lot of good things about the new Porsche 911 GT3 (pictured). It handles like a dream, it goes like spit, and the utterly-responsive PDK dual-clutch gearbox makes you wonder why a manual transmission ever existed. It’s a thing of beauty.
But while the GT3 is great and all, there’s something even more potent lurking in the shadows of Stuttgart- the 911 GT3 RS. The even more high-performance, hardcore, racing 911. And if new rumors from Automobile Mag are to be believed, it should be in showrooms as early as next year.
Power for the RS isn’t something Porsche is ready to reveal just yet, but taking into account the GT3′s 3.8-liter, 475-hp boxer-six, the RS should give out well over 500-hp via either the same 3.8- or a 4.0-liter boxer-six.
Most of the look of the RS will take note from the current GT3, albeit with a more track-worthy set of aerodynamics. Other details are still being ironed out, but we don’t doubt we’ll see the new 911 GT3 RS sometime near the end of this year (hopefully at the LA Auto Show).
