MAX BMW Runs 107 MPH on the Ice
With a foot of snow on the ground in many northeast states, and international news coverage of Atlanta’s snow removal woes, it might seem like the two-wheeled fans among us are going to be hunkered down until July this year. Not so, if you’re Max Stratton at MAX BMW. He ran his HP2 Enduro up to 107 MPH on the ice at the Lake Algonquin Ice Races in the Adirondacks.
Motorcycles aren’t exactly what you’d think of as competitive when the snow starts to fall, but shod with a set of studded tires, a motorcycle can be quite capable on the ice.
That’s evidenced by MAX BMW’s Max Stratton, who ran both a BMW HP2 Enduro and an S1000RR to the ton in Adirondack State Park this past weekend.
On the high speed run, the HP2 Enduro ran up to 107 MPH, and the S1000RR managed an impressive 102 MPH across the loose, bumpy surface of the one-mile course.
Just for fun, MAX BMW New York’s Jeff Frisch banged out 1/4 mile long wheelies on the BMW G 450 X all day long.
So get those bikes out and enjoy the cold weather. Just remember your heated gear and your ice tires.
