Jaguar F-Type Coupe Promises to be Lighter, More Precise
In its short history, Jaguar‘s new F-Type has already gone down as one of the best dag nab convertibles on the market. It’s pretty, it’s powerful and it drives like a dream. But things might change when Jaguar puts the roof up on its F-Type (previewed here by the C-X16 concept). Albeit for the better.
Chatting it up with Jag’s product planning manager Steven De Ploy, CarAdvice reported that the coupe variant would be even more focused and even more precise. This in part thanks to the use of more aluminum in the build, not having to over-compensate for all that added weight in the standard convertible.
The ditching of the roof rack would give Jag the chance to explore a few purist-oriented options, for example, digging a bit deeper into the R and R-S line. Although, admittedly, due to some “structural rigidity,” engineers have yet to test further power options above the current V8. But De Ploy says that the F-Type in coupe form is, “capable of handling more power.”
