Two years ago, after Chrysler emerged from bankruptcy and a government bailout, few people were convinced the automaker would (or even should) survive long-term. As I note in my latest story in Forbes magazine, Sergio Marchionne looks like a miracle worker for bringing Chrysler back from the dead, paying off the taxpayer loan early and building cars that people want to buy.

But he's a long way from declaring victory. Read the whole story here.

And while you're at it, read my review of the Alfa Romeo Giulietta, a terrific little Italian car that will be the basis for a slew of new small-and mid-sized cars coming from Chrysler, Jeep and Dodge over the next two years. If they're anything like the Giulietta, we should cue the applause.
