Best and Worst Looking Convertibles of 2013
Good looking convertibles are a dime a dozen. Often times they go through a sort of Jekyll and Hyde syndrome in which they’re either extremely handsome, or downright monstrous. So we thought now would be the perfect time to take a look back at some of the prettiest and ugliest convertibles of 2013. Do not be offended by our views on some of the less visually appealing drop-tops. These are cars that people really do love, but when you actually break down the visual elements, they are hideous. So here are the best of the best, and the not-so-hot.
Best: McLaren 12C Spider
The McLaren 12C coupe is a gorgeous sportscar, so we were slightly concerned when they said they’d be chopping the top off. Thankfully, McLaren did it completely right. It has no convertible bump, no awkward angles — hell, if anything, it looks better than the coupe.
Worst: Ferrari 458 Spider
Like the McLaren, the 458 Spider with the top up doesn’t stray much from its gorgeous figure. It’s when the top’s down that we really see how awkward it looks. It’s too big and too bulging in the back, and for one reason or another the five-spoke rims just don’t look right.
Best: Ford Mustang Convertible
There’s not much to say about this one — it’s a Mustang, the top goes down, yada yada yada.
