Since the age of 12, BoldRide reader Don Mosley has been a fanatic of big, bold Chevy and GMC trucks. His dad actually gave him his very first C10 back in 1968. Growing up in the business — with his dad working the GM Lakewood Atlanta plant for 32 years — GM trucks are in Don’s blood.
But when his beloved C10 was totaled in 1997, it was a long and arduous process to find another that would match his baby perfectly. It wasn’t until his wife stumbled across one sitting in a garage, that Don knew it was the perfect fit.
For $5,000, Don picked up his new blue and white C10, restored it to perfection with his wife and three kids by his side, and won the first car show he entered it in. A $5,000 investment turned into heartwarming remembrance for him and his whole family.

How did you acquire your ride?
My wife Sherrie found it in the garage of a yard sale she was shopping at and knew it looked like my very first vehicle. She immediately sold her 2004 Mach 1 Mustang so I could buy and restore the truck.
What drew you in when you bought it?
It was a longbed C10, blue and white just like I drove in high school, and it just happened to be around the corner from my house. Plus it was a one owner all original Georgia truck with only 68,732 miles.
Does it have a name?
Yes, his name is Junebug. It it is named after my favorite race car driver, Dale Earnhardt Jr. who’s nickname is Junebug.
What do you feel like when you drive it?
Every time I drive it I feel like I am a kid again. Growing up riding in a blue and white C10 and driving one while attending high school, it takes me back every time I turn the key.
What would you change about your car, if anything?
Nothing. It’s all original and it has stood the test of time with its classic style. I had pondered Resto-Rodding it, but decided to leave it alone.
What have you done to make it a bolder ride?
Restored it. Plain and simple is what seemed to work for me on this truck, so we went back and put all the original style, trim, and even engine decals back on the truck. It does have a 70′s dual exhaust set up with old school glass packs that make the 350 CID sound great at cruise ins and car shows.
Dream accessory for it and why?
I’d love to have a factory style cup holder. Since it doesn’t have any, it makes it hard to cruise around holding your drink. I guess that idea wasn’t too high on the food chain in 1972.
