Watch A Florida Man Try To Pull His Honda Off A Tow Truck, Painfully

Here’s the short list of known facts about this video: that it was filmed recently in an Orlando strip mall, (never stop being you, Florida) and that the SUV with its tail in the air is a late-model front-wheel-drive Honda Pilot. Clearly, the driver of said SUV was upset that his ride has been targeted for towing, but the particulars of his motivation are far more obscured than his determination to somehow unhook his Pilot through sheer Honda engine torque.

These are classic ingredients for a bad day, but Mr. Angry Pilot is only making them worse. Set aside the lopsided physics for a second (the FWD Pilot can only tow 2,000 lbs.; it’s not out-pulling a professional yank rig.) Whether the car is being towed unjustly or with cause — even up to repossession — once its up in the air, the legal rules change. The towing company has legal possession until proven otherwise, and trying to burn out the Honda’s tires and transmission will only add to the costs.

Notice that there’s no sign of the tow truck operator in this little ballet; that’s because it’s generally illegal to tow a vehicle with someone inside, and the operator has likely chosen to contact law enforcement. Here’s hoping the Orlando Pilot driver took his cue from Disney, and let it go.
