All-new Volkswagen GTI leaks ahead of Paris Motor Show

Following the recent reveal of the regular Golf, Volkswagen will be showing off the Mark VII GTI at the Paris Motor Show later this week. Meanwhile, the embargoed photos have been leaked, giving us a glimpse of what's to come from Wolfsburg's next hot hatch.

Visually similar to the next-generation Golf, the new GTI gets the requisite red pinstripe grill up front, and horizontal strakes on the bumper similar to the Volkswagen Scirocco (which unfortunately never saw a stateside release). Inside and out the lines are more hard-edged and boxy, and the throwback plaid seats make a return as well. Technically Volkswagen calls this a concept, but it should be a very close representation of what we'll get when it hits dealers next year.

Official details have yet to be unveiled on the specs, but the car will reportedly be powered by a turbo four-cylinder making 217 horsepower and 258 ft-lbs of torque. Stay tuned for more.
