The 11 models are ranked according to their combined fuel economy, as estimated by the EPA.
Frustratingly high gas prices appear to be on the downswing, but Americans are still experiencing plenty of pain at the pump.
The national average cost of a gallon of regular gas is hovering above $4.

We ranked the best new hybrid SUVs based on their combined fuel economy ratings from the Environmental Protection Agency.

We've also listed the EPA's estimates for annual fuel cost and five-year fuel savings for each vehicle. The agency assumes 15,000 miles driven per year and compares models to the average vehicle, which gets 27 mpg.
This list includes only traditional hybrids, not plug-in hybrids, which have bigger batteries and can travel farther using electricity alone. See the list:
