• Roasted Broccoli

I've said it before, and I'll say it again. I am not a vegetable fan. I was the girl who would never eat her vegetables, and everyone knew it.

  • Garlicky Breadsticks

I love breadsticks. If I could, I'd make a meal out of them. Garlicky, cheesey, crisp on the outside but soft on the inside breadsticks are, for me, a perfect food. And what better to pair with some delicious spaghetti than some equally delicious breadsticks?

  • Spaghetti with Meat Sauce

Spaghetti has always been one of my favorite dishes. It's easy to make, and provides a delicious, filling meal. Everyone prefers their spaghetti sauce differently. Some like it to be just a tomato sauce, while others prefer large meatballs scattered throughout. Personally, I like my meat sauce somewhere in the middle. I love having lots of cooked ground beef mixed into the sauce, so you get chunks of meat in every bite.

This recipe is my grandmother's recipe, and is the recipe I have grown up with. With six kids, my grandmother sure knew how to cook a great meal... I wouldn't change a thing.

Ingredients

1 family size can of tomato soup

1 regular can cream of mushroom soup

1 small can of tomato sauce

1 small pkg Lawry's Spaghetti sauce mix

1 pinch Italian seasoning

1 lb hamburger meat

1 small onion, diced

1 tbsp sugar

salt, pepper, garlic salt, to taste

1 1/2 cups water

12 oz spaghetti

parmesan cheese (optional)

Cooking Directions

Fry onion with hamburger meat and season with salt, pepper and garlic salt.

In large pan, combine soups and tomato sauce.

Add water, Italian seasoning and spaghetti mix.

Add meat and simmer 30 min.

Boil water in a large pot.

Salt water, then add the spaghetti to the water.

Boil for 8-10 minutes, or until al dente.

Serve spaghetti topped with the meat sauce, with a sprinkling of parmesan cheese if you prefer.

  • Zucchini Bread

Recently I have signed up to receive a CSA box every other week. For those who don't know, CSA stands for Community Supported Agriculture. You can purchase a share from a local farm who has the CSA program, and you will receive a box full of fruits and vegetables every week (or every other week for

  • Teriyaki Grilled Shrimp

Imagine walking along the beach on a bright summer day. The cool salt water rushes in to swirl around your ankles, then races away playfully. A slight breeze brings a whiff of salty ocean air. You hear seagulls squawking all around you. The taste of the briny ocean air is on your lips as you watch the sun set over the immense ocean.

After a perfect day at the beach, you need a perfect meal, so why not a summery barbecue? To me, summer means one thing - lots of grilling. Perhaps some sweet, salty, teriyaki marinated shrimp on the barbecue. Absolute heaven. Wonderfully delicious. A perfect summer dish.

If you're a sushi lover, this shrimp is amazing in a roll, especially if you pair it with some grilled onions. • World's Best Cheesecake

Cheesecake has always been one of my absolute favorite desserts. I love the rich, smooth cream cheese filling, the crumbly, sweet graham cracker crust, and how incredibly easy it is to make. There are hundreds of cheesecake recipes out there. They range from the easy no-bake cheesecakes, to the chee

  • How to Roll Maki Sushi

Everyone loves sushi. Okay, not everyone, but everyone should! Unfortunately, it can get very expensive if you are satisfying your sushi cravings by going out to eat at sushi bars often. Luckily, it's actually very easy to roll sushi at home! Plus, at home you can use whatever ingredients YOU like,

  • Spam Musubi

Spam musubi is a popular Hawaiian snack using spam, rice, and nori (seaweed used for sushi). I find it to be really yummy and not too difficult to make. The marinated and fried spam tastes almost like unagi (eel), in an odd roundabout way... trust me, it's good! (I know many of you turn your noses u

  • How to Make Tempura at Home!

Tempura is the perfect party snack. Everyone loves tempura - it's more or less healthy (since it is mostly made with vegetables), most everyone likes fried foods, and yet it's not heavy like many fried foods are... it's actually pretty light! Most anything can be tempura fried. Typically sliced vege

  • Japanese Potato Salad

Last year, I was offered a cookbook called Harumi's Japanese Home Cooking, by Harumi Kurihara, to review and try recipes from. I looked through the cookbook and flagged a few recipes I wanted to try, including this Japanese Potato Salad. It sounded like it was going to be really good! Unfortunately,

  • Hot and Cheesy Wontons!

These cheese and jalapeño wontons (also known as Cheese Age, pronounced ah-gay) are the perfect party food. Fried, cheesy, spicy finger food. Great for watching the big game (whichever game you prefer), or partying with friends! Sure, they take a little time to make, but you can make them a day or

  • Honda-Ya - Tustin, CA

Last year, for my boyfriend's birthday, I took him to this cute little Japanese restaurant in Tustin called Honda-Ya (556 El Camino Real, Tustin, CA 92780 Phone: (714) 832-0081) that an old friend had recommended to him a while ago, but we hadn't gone to yet. We arrived around 7:45. There's a little

  • Baked Potato Soup

I LOVE baked potatoes. Actually, I love just about anything that involved potatoes - potato salad, french fries, potato soup, mashed potatoes... you would be hard pressed to find something involving potatoes that I don't like! So I knew I would love this recipe for baked potato soup when I found it!

  • Easy Crepes

I have loved crêpes ever since my old ballet company hired the "Crêpe Lady" for one of our annual garden parties (a sort of fundraising thing for the company). Ever since then I have gotten crêpes at every chance, so of course I had to try making them myself!

  • Orange Sunshine Cupcakes

Last year, I found out that someone very close to me has leukemia. It was devastating for everyone close to him, and although he will be alright after treatment, it will still be a difficult year. This also coincided with the second Taste and Create. Orange is the color for leukemia (like pink is th

  • A New Sync For Your Kitchen

How do you bring your recipes into the kitchen? I don't like to bring my cookbooks into the kitchen, because I don't want to get them messy. I get a lot of recipes from the internet, but I wouldn't ever bring my laptop into the kitchen, because sticky keys are no fun, and what would I do if, god for

  • Smoked Salmon Summer Rolls

Considering I have a Vietnamese boyfriend, it's no surprise that I'm familiar with the Vietnamese spring roll. Whether I eat it filled with his dad's roasted fish (so good... one of these days I'll get that recipe out of him!) or at a seven-courses of beef restaurant (it might sound like a lot of be
