  • Tests

God gives us tests because he knows he's made us strong enough to pass them.

  • Life, in general...

So, it's been a long time since I've written. I have found that life is more complicated than ever. Dad's health, due to FXTAS, a form of Fragile X, has gotten profoundly worse. It's resembling Lou Gherigs is the best way to describe it. My son is a mess, with a sleazy girlfriend and a lifestyle I d

  • What do you give up for Lent?

A few years ago, Mother Angelica on EWTN issued a challege. She said, God doesn't care if you give up chocolate, or soda, or tv. Not that he's displeased if that is how you show your faith, but it's not as big as giving up something in you that God would find displeasing. How many of you curse the t

  • Want to know what love is?

As one of three girls, we were always daddy's Valentines. He'd get mom flowers and chocolate, as well as special cards for all of us. We were the "queen and princesses" of the day. It was so cute to see that, though day is wheelchair bound and dealing with cancer these days, he still got a hold of m

  • Friendship: What are you willing to do?

Things we do for friendship and love! I wore the team colors and attended a game for my husband and my BF this weekend to cheer them up. Between funerals and sick parents, they needed some cheering. What would you do for a friend?

  • Chillin' like a villian

Taking it easy this evening, chilling out after the first week back to school! Kids wore me out! Been a busy week. This weekends goal is to master facebook so the teens and twenty somethings in my house quit calling me one of the "ancients" who's too old school to figure it out. So far, I've found s

  • Wasted snow days!!!!!!

So excited to have my kids back in the classroom today! Ready with an amazing, interactive 3 m board lesson all about Manifest Destiny that I spent 2 hours working on yesterday, and then......the ice man cometh! It only looks wet out, but touch your foot to it, and it's glass! And it's supposed to b

  • Back to School!!!!!!

Okay, I'm a dork! I'm all excited to go back to school, get back into my routine. Tomorrow, we teachers are due back and the kids come back on Tuesday. Silly, but I kind of miss the rugrats!!! They'll be full of stories about their holidays, where they went and what they got. We'll be getting ready

  • It's a glasses kind of day!

I wear contacts, as a rule, but a lazy Saturday, with mist and rain forcast just makes me want to throw on my glasses. Does anyone else feel the same way?

  • Sisterhood, I need prayers!!!!!!!

Parenting your parents sucks! Mine are spending more than they have and I have to be the one to get it under control. Mom's now paying the bills after a lifetime of having dad do it. I found out in the last 24 hours that she's not balanced her accounts in over a year, and thinks as long as the check

  • They did it!

Way to go, Mighty MO! You pulled it off and beat Northwestern!!!!!!! That's some pretty good Alamo Bowling!

  • Alamo Bowling!

MIZ ZOU!! Let me hear it, people! MIZ ZOU!!!!!!! Go Tigers!!!!!!!!!!

  • I made it through the rain!

We got 1.8 inches of rain here yesterday, complete with 45 mile an hour winds. Guess you have to pay for having 70 degree weather at the end of December in Missouri!

  • My home town

Inspired by Cody and Bridget, here's what you see in my neck of the woods, Missouri:1-3 top: Statue of Lewis and Clark, along with their dog, Seamon near where they started their journey on the Missouri River, shopping on historic South Main, an artist at work and the Foundary Art Centre.4 (lower le

  • Quote of the day

"Life's like a movie, write your own ending. Keep believing, keep pretending!" --Jim Henson (muppet creator) Moi likes this one, especially at this time of this particularly rough year. May 2009 bring us all a happier ending! May we make our own happy endings. *grins*

  • It's a miracle! Mr. Wrinkles leaves, and his bags are packed!

Garnier's Ultra Lift intensive wrinkle therapy is amazing. It's in a little green tube I've been using it for only 4 days and wrinkles are noticeably diminished. I left some alone and even my husband noticed. The price was reasonable and it's at places like Target and Walgreens. What's not to love?

  • Calling Sisterhood of the Traveling Prayer members!!! FOR IRISH

Ladies and gentlemen, our dear Irish needs out prayers! Luther has been readmitted to the hospital and she's praying he's on the mend and home for Christmas. Please keep them in your prayers. You know she'd do it for you! Peace. May the Lord above give strength and courage to Irish and her dear Luth

  • T - 1

One day left until Christmas break! Oh, excuse me, "Winter Break".....as if the kids still don't call it by the real name. May your days be merry and bright!

  • Ice Ice Baby

Ah, just what I needed! An icey day-- school called off. Time to catch my breath--get those Christmas cards done, laundry caught up, actually take time to cook instead of get take out. Look out the windows at everything frosted white. Time to Shine! (For those who had to go out in it, I'm sorry and

  • The perfect snow!

Today, we awoke to the perfect snow. 3 inches on the grass, roads and walks wet only (ground temps too warm to stick to pavement). My hubby and son got the outdoor lights and decor up yesterday, and we put up the tree tonight. We got the garland and the angel up, then relaxed in front of the fire. T
