  • What next for Aston Villa?

Firstly, Fulham were better than us on the day, and have been for the large majority of the season. Villa set up in the same way all season, looking to keep it tight and rely upon a piece of individual brilliance to win us the game. Steve Bruce has done a great job at steadying the ship, putting pride back into the club and carrying on with the job with such dignity.

  • Aston Villa need to beat Fulham in playoff final

Aston Villa take on Fulham in the Championship Playoff Final, where it’s winner takes all for a place in the ‘promise land’ of the Premier League. The implications of Villa not going up, look pretty dire. Villa are a bigger club than Fulham, and therefore it’s costs are much larger and if Villa don’t go up, we will see a huge cost cutting summer which will see certain star players move on.

  • Aston Villa Fan View: Villa poor form a play-off concern

It’s been quite the rollercoaster season for Aston Villa, with many tipping the club at the start of the season to be promoted back to the Premier League. With marquee signing John Terry being made captain, and astute loan signings such as Robert Snodgrass dropping down a division, Villa looked set. With Aston Villa’s resources and squad, not many would have bet that a Cardiff side managed by Neil Warnock would finish ahead of the team from Birmingham in this season’s Championship campaign.

  • Aston Villa Fan View: Jack Grealish is the Prince of Villa Park

In a game that a month ago looked like a potential shoot out for the automatic promotion spots to the Premier League, its a massive shame that one of the best goals I’ve ever seen in recent times is likely to count for very little. Grealish saved Aston Villa, and Steve Bruce from yet another 90 minutes without a win, a run which has seen Villa blow their chances of an automatic promotion spot.

  • Aston Villa are running out of time

Villa’s hopes of finishing in the top 2 have been dashed in the past few weeks, with Cardiff winning an amazing 8 games in the trot, coupled with Fulham not losing a game since December! As we edge towards being a team that has to settle for the playoffs, Villa have one last throw of the dice over the next 10 days. Cardiff have back to back games against Wolves and Villa, and if they lose both, Villa could be only 1 point behind automatic promotion spots. Unfortunately, with Fulham’s run of form, we are now also relying upon them slipping up as well.

  • Villa bouncing as rivals keep pace

It was a fantastic night under the lights at Villa Park on Saturday, as the race to the Premier League hots up as we are now 10 games until the end of the season. Villa are having to win every game at the moment, and Bruce knew going into the game against Wolves that Cardiff and Fulham had already won, which must have added extra pressure! On Saturday night, Villa were electric, and the team Bruce has put together over the past 18 months is really flexing its muscle.

  • Aston Villa Fan View: Promotion charge is halted - but not over

After Villa had won 7 games on the bounce, a club record since 1990, the fanbase was expecting a loss at some point, and the game at Craven Cottage against Fulham on Saturday proved to be the game. It was no great surprise, our track record at the Cottage is awful, having won 1 in the last 10, and without star players Jack Grealish and Albert Adomah, it felt like a formality as soon as Fulham scored. With Villa then following that result up with a 1-1 draw against Preston at home, suddenly doubt and question marks are once being raised again.
