Newcastle United Season Review
A season where we have been knocked by every pundit in the land, but a season that has seen Newcastle United’s unwavering support stick by their team, through thick and thin, once again. Newcastle United have unity in abundance. There has been a long running theme through my blogs over the last 3 years and that has been Rafa Benitez.

Newcastle just aren't very good at the National Stadium. But at least their latest loss wasn't a cup final!

Newcastle United's roller-coaster season in danger of going flat
To describe Newcastle United’s return to the Premier League as a bit of a roller-coaster would be an understatement. Newcastle started the season poorly and got progressively worse through the winter months only to find the form that has lifted us to the heady heights of 10th since the turn of 2018. For the first time in a long time we are looking at finishing in the top half of the Premier League but given our rather lacklustre performances over the last couple of weeks, are we in danger of dropping in to the bottom half before the season ends in just over a week? Is Newcastle United’s season in danger of turning boring? As ever with Newcastle United, the issues off-field have dominated the headlines throughout the season and whilst the months of January, February, March and April 2018 were a welcome distraction when people started to actually talk about the football, it is incredibly hard not to get overly excited about how the squad have performed since the turn of the year when we have a summer of uncertainty ahead.

A summer of uncertainly lies in wait for Newcastle United fans
Newcastle United’s 2-1 win over Arsenal just over a week ago all but secured our stay in the Premier League for another season. Whilst I am sure Rafa won’t let his players sit back and relax now that “the hard work is done”, it is difficult as a fan not to look beyond this season and to what might happen in the summer, a summer of uncertainty, and unfortunately, I suspect us fans are in for a rough ride once again. Newcastle have certainly come a long way on and off the pitch since those days.

Newcastle United Fan View: Southampton match is crucial for United
Newcastle United arguably have their biggest game of the season this Saturday when they face fellow relegation strugglers Southampton. A win would lift the magpies away from the relegation zone and whilst they certainly wouldn’t be clear of the danger, it would be a fantastic welcome relief going in to an untimely three-week break from football following the saints game. A loss could be disastrous, this is a ‘6 pointer’ if ever there was one and at this stage of the season we can not afford to hand our rivals 3 points.

Newcastle United Fan View: Takeover collapse is a nightmare for the Magpies
If the reports are true, it truly is a disaster for the club who will remain under Mike Ashley’s ownership with no signs of investment. Surely another relegation beckons or is this simply gamesmanship by Mike Ashley? Since the club was put up for sale, reports on the takeover have been sketchy at best. What we do know is PCP Partners, a group led by Amanda Staveley were interested in buying the club and did make an offer to Mike Ashley. This offer was leaked to the press, something Ashley was extremely annoyed about and the offer was thought to be in the region of £250m with clauses relating to how successful, or more so, how unsuccessful they are this season should the club be relegated. This offer was apparently rejected as too low and due to the clauses.
