The Carlos Gomez career has been filled with stops and starts, twists and turns. The Astros thought they were getting a difference maker in the middle of 2015, but Gomez hit so poorly he was released outright a season later. The Rangers have been trying to fix Gomez ever since.

Nelson wasn’t dominant in his Wednesday victory over San Francisco (6 IP, 7 H, 3 R, 1 BB, 6 K), but it was enough to get a win. A 3.45 ERA and 1.27 WHIP are playable in any format, and he’s validated by a 3.15 FIP. Nelson was owned in a mere 31 percent of Yahoo leagues just a few days ago.

Adam Wainwright hasn’t been the best pitcher in baseball over the past decade or so, but he’s probably been my favorite watch. Watching Wainwright work to Yadier Molina has been a consistent joy. Wainwright never won a Cy Young Award, but he did finish second three times.
