  • Man Robs Ice Cream Shop With Submachine Gun

    Police are on the hunt for a man who allegedly robbed a Florida ice cream shop with what appeared to be a submachine-type gun, according to the Naples Daily News. Two employees were closing up shop at Rita's Italian Ice in Naples on Aug. 23, when a man wearing a gray ski mask and holding what appeared to be an automatic weapon forced his way through the store's back door, NBC-2.com reports. The suspect demanded the combination to the store's safe and ordered one of the employees to fill a bag with an undisclosed amount of cash.

    A convicted murderer is suing six Albany, New York police officers for $160,000 on allegations that they beat, pistol-whipped and Tasered him during a 2008 arrest, according to the Times Union. In 2010, Devon Callicutt was convicted of the 2008 murder of college student Richard Bailey, according to the Troy Record. Callicutt, who is representing himself in the lawsuit, says that police pushed him to the ground, which made his gun fire accidentally.
