Greg Cosell's draft analysis: Sam Darnold needs work to reach tantalizing potential
Sam Darnold has a lot of positives, which is why he might be the first pick. But his NFL team will have to fix some things, too.

Greg Cosell's draft analysis: Baker Mayfield's best is very good, but there are some issues too
Baker Mayfield had a very productive college career in a structured offense, but he wasn't the same player when the structure broke down.

Greg Cosell's draft analysis: Josh Rosen is the most refined, and perhaps best, QB in this class
There are a few high-level quarterback prospects in this year's NFL draft, but UCLA's Josh Rosen might have the fewest flaws.

Greg Cosell's draft analysis: Josh Allen, a young wild stallion who needs to be channeled
Wyoming quarterback Josh Allen is going to be selected early in the first round, but there are a lot of things he needs to work on.

Greg Cosell's draft analysis: Lamar Jackson can execute an NFL passing game
Louisville quarterback Lamar Jackson will be polarizing in draft rooms, but his college experience makes for a potentially smooth transition.

Greg Cosell's draft analysis: Saquon Barkley is a great prospect, but not without some faults
Penn State running back Saquon Barkley is a high-level NFL prospect, but there are a few things he'll need to iron out.

Greg Cosell's NFL Draft preview: Running backs highlight Day 2 and 3 sleepers
Day two of the NFL draft will feature Dalvin Cook, among other good players who did not go in the first round. There are plenty of running backs after Cook who will go on the second and third days of the draft who jumped out to me as I watched film. Alvin Kamara is one of the intriguing prospects still available after day one of the draft.

Greg Cosell's NFL Draft Preview: Reuben Foster compares favorably to Patrick Willis
There’s a lot of chatter about Alabama linebacker Reuben Foster, after an incident at the combine and a failed drug test for a diluted sample.

Greg Cosell's NFL draft preview: Jabrill Peppers' NFL fit, and a deep class of defensive backs
Michigan defensive back Jabrill Peppers became a household name in college football last season because of his versatility. He played many different positions for the Wolverines, and played well.

Greg Cosell's NFL Draft Preview: Washington WR John Ross doesn't have an obvious weakness
When I watch tape of college prospects, I note the strengths and weaknesses in their games. On my report for Washington receiver John Ross, I didn’t mark any weaknesses.

Greg Cosell's NFL draft preview: Exciting O.J. Howard leads a deep tight end class
My sense in watching the tape of Alabama tight end O.J. Howard is he has not even begun to scratch the surface as a receiver. This is a good tight end class with plenty of enticing prospects, but Howard’s skill set stands out. Teams will have to figure out why his production at Alabama never matched his physical skills, but the skills are obvious when you watch him.

Greg Cosell's NFL draft preview: Myles Garrett vs. Jadeveon Clowney, and a good defensive line class
Myles Garrett of Texas A&M is the best defensive end in this draft class. Since there isn’t much debate about Garrett in comparison to his own draft class, it’s worthwhile to go back a few years and compare him to another defensive end going first overall: I think Garrett is a better pass-rushing prospect than Jadeveon Clowney of the Houston Texans, who was the first pick of the 2014 draft. Garrett will need work, with coaching and development, to become a high-level run defender in the NFL.

Greg Cosell's NFL Draft Preview: Corey Davis is my top wide receiver prospect in this draft
Western Michigan’s Corey Davis, in my opinion, is the best receiving prospect in this year’s draft. I think he has a chance to be a big-time NFL receiver.

Greg Cosell's NFL Draft Preview: WR Mike Williams is a top prospect, with one important question
When you watch Clemson receiver Mike Williams on film, it’s easy to see a conventional NFL “X” receiver, with the size, strength and the ability to make contested catches. There’s a significant question about Williams, and that’s whether he can present a vertical dimension as a deep threat in an offense. Williams is roughly the same size as Julio Jones (almost 6-foot-4, 218 pounds), but Williams isn’t as explosive.

Greg Cosell's NFL draft preview: Dalvin Cook has good NFL skills, but might not be a foundation back
You’ll see a lot of comparisons between now and the draft between LSU‘s Leonard Fournette and Florida State‘s Dalvin Cook, because they’re considered the top two backs in this year’s draft. Perhaps the better comparison for Cook is Stanford’s Christian McCaffrey. Cook isn’t an NFL foundation back, like Fournette is.

Greg Cosell's NFL draft preview: On the field, Joe Mixon is most complete RB prospect in this draft
A lot has been said about Oklahoma running back Joe Mixon off the field, and some teams will take him off their draft board for a 2014 incident in which he punched a woman. While teams will have to make that decision on how to weigh Mixon’s off-field issues, for this piece I’m focusing on the evaluation of Mixon only as a player, based on film study. Based solely on film, Mixon is a better overall prospect than Florida State’s Dalvin Cook, who is projected by almost everyone to go in the first round.

Greg Cosell's NFL draft preview: Christian McCaffrey has great skills, but what's his NFL fit?
Stanford running back Christian McCaffrey will be polarizing in NFL draft rooms, but not necessarily because of his skills.

Greg Cosell's NFL draft preview: Leonard Fournette looks different than most other backs
LSU running back Leonard Fournette is fun to watch. You just don’t see many backs who run like Fournette. In Fournette, an NFL team will be getting a volume runner who can be the foundation of a run-first offense. Leonard Fournette is expected to be the top running back selected in this year’s draft.

Greg Cosell's NFL draft preview: Davis Webb's upside, and concerns about Patrick Mahomes
There’s a lot of time left before the draft, and it’s possible another quarterback will jump into that top three by then. Texas Tech’s Patrick Mahomes or Cal’s Davis Webb, a couple of “Air Raid” quarterbacks, could be the QBs who get increasing buzz before the draft. Webb fits the NFL game better, and he might be the best quarterback prospect in this year’s NFL draft, with a higher ceiling than Trubisky or Watson.

Greg Cosell's NFL draft preview: DeShone Kizer has physical tools that will excite teams
Notre Dame quarterback DeShone Kizer has traits that will get people excited. Like the other two players generally considered to be in the top three quarterbacks of this year’s draft (I analyzed Deshaun Watson in this piece, and I talked about Mitch Trubisky here), there are questions about him as a prospect. DeShone Kizer is considered one of the top three quarterbacks in this draft.
