  • RealNetworks Steps Up Its RealDVD Legal Case, Just Wants Your Approval

Escalating its already simmering court battle with Hollywood, RealNetworks has expanded its lawsuit against the six major Hollywood movie studios and the DVD Copy Control Association, a cross-industry consortium, in federal court in northern California. The Seattle-based company is accusing the studios and the association of violating antitrust law by illegally colluding to stop consumers from making "fair use" copies of their DVDs and to prevent competing DVD products from hitting the market. At issue is a Real program called RealDVD, which lets users make backup copies of the industry's copy-protected DVDs on their hard drives.

  • VOTD: My Favorite Movie (Star Trek vs. Star Wars)

Long time Star Wars fans became enbittered when the prequels came out, but clearly that set of movies was intended to draw in a whole new audience. And now with the bittersweet relase of Star Trek reminds us that if approached differently the Star Wars franchise could have been SO much better. They don't have to "remake" it, but step into the future of the Star Wars timeline and do a movie based on the Legacy Comics.

  • The Minotaur Takes a Cigarette Break

There are some ideas for movies that are so far out there that you can't decide if they're sheer genius, or just plain stupid as hell is one of those concepts. I swear I read that through like 5 times and I still can't wrap my head around it. Apparently the movie will inded be live action with 3D elemants (I assume the Minotaur or at least parts of him will be the 3d elements part).

  • Kidman Waves Goodbye to Woody Allen Film - Who Should Replace Her?

According to Variety, although she was officially signed on to star alongside Antonio Banderas, Anthony Hopkins, Josh Brolin, Naomi Watts and Freida Pinto in Woody Allen s upcoming project, she has decided to leave the project. Her movie stars Aaron Eckhart and is being directed by John Cameron-Mitchell and filming on the East Coast this summer, the exact same time that Allen will be shooting in London.

  • Three More Images From Inglourious Basterds

Three more images from Quentin Tarantino's "Inglourious Basterds", which I hear the QT man is already writing a sequel/prequel to. Which seems a tad premature, but then again, he's the superstar filmmaker and I'm the guy writing this article while spilling juice on my pajamas, so I'll default to him to do what's best when it comes to his bastards. Three more looks at the WWII action movie below, including one with Brad Pitt and a big honkin knife.

  • Cliffhanger Reboot in the Works

  • Abel Ferrara's Jekyll With Whitaker

Now put to the side that this modernisation is presenting the characters as black and presumably American, and take to the fore the idea of Whitaker and Jackson playing Jekyll and Hyde. Forest Whitaker playing the scientist that develops the potion that turns him into the violent creature that is Hyde, played by Curtis Jackson. • Earnings: Sony Records First Full-Year Loss in 14 Years

  • Paul Walker to Offer Protection in Next Film

Paul Walker in a dramatic role can be iffy, but Paul Walker in an action movie with or without fast cars is a pretty sure bet. I'm guessing there are a lot of double crosses, moles that need to be ferreted out, and your usual action-thriller plot points. The film is currently being shopped around, but with the suddenly-hot Walker attached to star, and a competent action director in West interested, it should get sold pretty quickly.
