  • Was WWE's 2017 Royal Rumble a disappointment?

If you don’t want to know any of the results, especially who wins the Royal Rumble match, I’d recommend not reading on. There was a whole lot of excitement heading into this year’s Royal Rumble from the WWE, as it seemed they had pulled out all of the possible stops by not only entering Brock Lesnar into this year’s iconic wrestling over-the-top-rope bout, but also Goldberg and The Undertaker. It goes without saying that those three marquee names alone were enough to get even the most casual of casual wrestling, or ‘Sports Entertainment’ fans excited for the Royal Rumble main event.

  • WWE UK Championship & World of Sport Wrestling prove British wrestling needs bigger TV spotlight

Living in Bristol I am lucky enough to have a couple of independant UK wrestling promotions active in the area with Pro Wrestling Chaos and 4 Front Wrestling, both promotions have been able to attract some of the big global names in Wrestling like Rey Mysterio and Jay Lethal and as well as some of UK wrestling’s most prodigious stars like Pete Dunne and Will Ospreay and have been a great source of quality entertainment to myself and my friends. The show also featured the legendary Jim Ross on commentary and ex-‘The Bill’ actor Max Beesely as the General Manager figure.

  • Is 'Let It Shine' evidence that time is up for television talent shows?

My disdain for television talent shows will be more than clear to anyone who has stumbled upon one of my many vitriolic rants aimed towards the X-Factor, most recently inspired by the woeful turn of events that saw Honey G actually be allowed to release a legitimate record in the British charts. Although the idea that this is an ego trip for Gary, or an attempt to prolong the relevancy of a dwindling ‘Take That’ would be totally wrong because they’re searching for members of ‘The Band’ not ‘Take That’ and they’re going to be in a fictional musical about the fictitious ‘The Band’ and not about the life of ‘Take That’.

  • Did Ronnie and Roxy deserve better for their EastEnders exit?

The New Year’s Day EastEnders brought us the exit of iconic Mitchell sisters Ronnie and Roxy after several years on the show. Well, we’ll get to that in a minute, so if you don’t want to know how the Mitchell sisters leave the soap, or anything else about Ronnie and Jack’s wedding this is officially your spoiler warning. Naturally Ronnie convinces Roxy to stay and everything is great.

  • Is Moriarty really the villain in Sherlock Season Four?

The third series of Sherlock ended with the chilling image of Andrew Scott’s face smiling menacingly in a video being broadcast all over London, with the spine-tingling words ‘Miss Me?’ proving that Moriarty is not done playing games with Sherlock Holmes. This prompted the Christmas Special ‘The Abominable Bride’ which saw Holmes, under the influence of drugs, recede into his mind palace to solve a mystery from the Victorian era and to work out if it is really possible that Moriarty could be back from the dead despite shooting himself in the head. Benedict Cumberbatch’s detective concluded that it was impossible for Moriarty to be alive, but that he was almost certainly posthumously back with some great plan of revenge that he had engineered before his death.

  • Strictly Come Dancing and Apprentice: Television's conspiracy to fix as many talent TV shows as possible

First to finish was ‘Im a Celebrity Get Me Out of Here’ that saw lovable northern lass Scarlett Moffat complete her journey from watching television with her parents to walking out of Australia as ‘Queen of the Jungle’. Obviously the ‘X-Factor’ final that followed shortly afterwards was considerably not a ‘win’ for decent human beings everywhere as Honey G not only continued to undermine musical talent everywhere but undermined the very premise of the show by announcing that she was releasing a single even before the winner was. Which brings me to this weekend, bringing us not one, but two, finals with ‘Strictly Come Dancing’ and ‘The Apprentice’ wrapping up their annual search for a winner.
