Bills Hall of Famer Jim Kelly is once again cancer-free after clean MRI
It has been a long winding road, but, per his wife, Jim Kelly is once again cancer free.
Jill Kelly announced the good news through Instagram on Friday, posting a photo of Kelly giving the thumbs up and mentioning the Bills legend’s recover took “a bit longer than usual” due to extensive mouth reconstruction.

That mouth reconstruction likely stemmed from complications with Kelly’s recovery, given that he had already been announced as cancer-free last July.
Kelly’s third battle with cancer in five years
Hopefully, Friday will mark the last day of a battle that has gone on for half a decade. Kelly was initially diagnosed with squamous cell carcinoma, a form of cancer in his upper jaw, in 2013. Despite treatment that included surgery, radiation and chemotherapy, Kelly’s cancer returned twice, most recently in March 2018.
Kelly earned the Jimmy V Award at last year’s ESPYs for his struggle, and has still managed to visit the Bills between surgeries. With a clean bill of health in hand, he will be making a very public appearance next week as one of four honorary captains at the Pro Bowl.
