Piolo Pascual is fasting to understand Marawi Muslims
4 Jun – Piolo Pascual recently revealed that he has been fasting since the first day of Ramadan as a way to pay respect for the Muslims in Marawi.
As reported on Rappler, the actor who is producing a movie about Marawi, revealed to the media recently, "I'm observing Ramadhan just because of the Marawi film that we are doing. So I am not eating and drinking anything from sun up to sun down for a month."
In addition, Pascual, who has been doing it for two weeks since the first day of Ramadan on 15 May, shared that he wanted to understand what the Muslims go through throughout the holy month.
Aside from Pascual, fellow collaborator Joyce Bernal also has been fasting with him and actor Robin Padilla, who is a Muslim.
"Joyce and I joined our Muslim brothers and sisters so we also know what they think, why they do it and what they do," he said.
As for the said project, Pascual shared that they are finalising the casting and hopes to begin filming sometime this month. The movie, he said, will be helmed by "Women of the Weeping River" director, Sheron Dayoc.
