Before Korean drama “Descendants Of The Sun” and Song Joong Ki was the talk of the town, “Cheese In The Trap” and its leading man, Park Hae Jin, dominated the popularity polls.

Speaking to the media and fans at an open press conference at West Coast Plaza in Singapore on Sunday (17 Apr), the 10-year acting veteran answered several questions ranging from his acting career to his dating preferences.

As someone who portrayed the romantic main lead for “Cheese In The Trap”, one wonders about how romantic he is in real life too.

In contrast to his romantic leading role of Yoo Jung in “Cheese In The Trap”, Park, who has been single for the past six years, confessed that he is not really a romantic person at all.

Hailing from the South Korean city of Busan, known for the warm beaches, fresh seafood and unique dialect (or ‘satoori’ in Korean), Park admitted candidly, “My hometown is in Busan and in Korea, people from there are generally thought of as pretty cold, uncaring and not romantic at all. I am like that too.”

For someone who described himself as cold and uncaring, Park reacted in quite the opposite manner during the event when he saw a fan nearly get trampled in the crowd. When Park approached fans during the event to shake their hands, one girl was pushed by the crowd around her and experienced difficulty breathing. Security staff pulled her from the crowd and put her on a chair near the stage. The girl was seen crying.

After shaking hands with fans in the area, Park went over to check on the crying girl. He held her hand and patted her head gently, telling event staff to take care of her.

Earlier during the question and answer session, the veteran actor said his plan for 2016 was to “give back as much love as I have received”. Park’s caring gesture to one overwhelmed fan at the event seems like a positive start to that plan.
