Britain's biggest stars record iconic poem 'If' as tribute to Olympic heroes

London, Oct 29(ANI): Some of Britain's biggest stars like showbiz knights Sir Michael Caine and Sir Elton John, Simon Cowell and Stephen Fry got together to record Rudyard Kipling's iconic poem If as an amazing tribute to their Olympic and Paralympic heroes. It forms the reminiscent soundtrack for a film to honour our medallists from London 2012 and will be premiered at Monday night's Pride of Britain Awards, the Daily Mirror reports. Millions of viewers will see it when the gala, attended by athletes and more than 100 other stars, the paper added. Leona Lewis, Sir Richard Branson, Lorraine Kelly and Brenda Blethyn were also involved with the poem and David Beckham has recorded his own Games tribute for the awards, sponsored by Lidl, which honour unsung heroes, it said. Sir Michael reads the opening lines of If, followed by the rest of the cast as Olympic images unfold, it added. The paper further said many would be at London's Grosvenor House on Monday to receive a special recognition award from Prince Charles to mark their glorious achievements. Stars including Gary Barlow, Nicole Scherzinger, Tulisa, Louis Walsh, Dawn French, Pierce Brosnan, Jon Bon Jovi, Sir Bruce Forsyth and Sir Ian McKellen and David Walliams will be arriving on the red carpet from 5.30pm. They will be joined by PM David Cameron and leading figures such as Professor Stephen Hawking, Labour leader Ed Miliband and England football manager Roy Hodgson. Winners include Doreen Lawrence, who receives a Lifetime Achievement award, and inspiring unsung heroes aged from seven to 86. (ANI)
