Omarosa on Cohen's guilty plea: ‘This is the beginning of the end for Donald Trump'

It was an eventful day for those close to President Donald Trump who are mired in scandal. Trump’s former campaign manager, Paul Manafort, was found guilty on eight of the 18 federal charges he faced, with the judge declaring a mistrial on the other 10.

Probably much more concerning for Trump, his former personal attorney, Michael Cohen, pleaded guilty to eight charges that include campaign finance violations in which he implicated Trump as a co-conspirator. On Hardball With Chris Matthews, former White House adviser Omarosa Manigault Newman said she believes that this scandal will be the one that finally brings Trump down.

“Today changed everything,” Manigault Newman said. “This is the beginning of the end for Donald Trump.” Asked why, she replied, “Because he knows that the person who knows everything about him, about his relationships with these women, and others that people might not know about, are gonna come to light.”

Trump has tried to distance himself from Cohen in the past, once tweeting that the lawyer had “nothing to do with the campaign.” But Manigault Newman sees things differently and showed video she took of Cohen boarding Trump’s campaign plane in September 2016.

“The reason I wanted to share this with you is, first of all, to show you that he [Cohen] was in fact involved with the campaign,” she said. “He organized this particular trip to Cleveland. He spoke at this event. … and he sat and met with the president during that trip. He was very involved. He was directing some of the things that were happening. He was impacting the decisions that the president made, as well as the president telling him to fix things.”

Manafort will most likely appeal his guilty verdict. But, given his guilty pleas, Cohen will be spending time behind bars. So, to quote Manigault Newman in the video: “Michael, say bye.”

Hardball With Chris Matthews airs weeknights at 7 on MSNBC.
