'This is crazy': Vanilla Ice tweets that he was on quarantined flight after arriving in New York from Dubai
Vanilla Ice had been looking forward to arriving back home in the U.S. after a long flight, but there was an issue.

The “Ice Ice Baby” rapper, whose real name is Rob Van Winkle, tweeted that he landed to “tons of ambulances and fire trucks and police all over the place.” Although the reality star’s posts appeared several hours after the incident, he said he was one of the 521 passengers on board the Emirates Airline flight that was quarantined Wednesday morning after a 9:06 a.m. landing at John F. Kennedy International Airport.
About 100 passengers complained of feeling ill, with cough and fever, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. Health officials met the plane on the ground, examining the passengers’ symptoms and taking their temperature. Some of those who were affected were eventually taken to Jamaica Hospital in Queens, and another nine refused medical attention, according to the office of New York City Mayor Bill de Blasio. The local New York affiliate of NBC News reported that there was a concern some passengers had recently traveled to Mecca, Saudi Arabia, where there’s been an outbreak of the flu.

Ice, who now hosts The Vanilla Ice Project on DIY, did not immediately respond to a request for comment, but he appeared to be feeling OK.

He and the other passengers on his flight were released within a few hours, which was long enough to inspire Ice’s social media followers. Many of them made jokes referencing his 1989 smash “Ice Ice Baby,” to make his airport delay slightly more tolerable.
