• Two South Carolina soldiers gunned down while protecting woman at bar

Two South Carolina soldiers were killed Sunday after trying to protect a woman at a bar that was being chased by the man charged in their deaths. Joseph Mills, 25, of Little Mountain, was charged with two counts of murder. Mills said in court Monday that he was chasing a girl who grabbed drugs from his car and took off. He apologized for what happened, but thought the two men who interceded were going to “lynch” him. The Lexington County Coroner Margaret Fisher identified the victims as Charles Allen Judge Jr., 40, and Jonathon Michael Prins, 29, according to the Island Packet. The South Carolina National Guard confirmed to WIS-TV that Judge was a staff sergeant and an engineering instructor

  • Dramatic photo shows massive shark dangerously close to surfers; video

A freelance photographer who specializes in surfing photos stopped at North Beach in Western Australia on Sunday when he saw four surfers on the calm waters. Then he observed the surfers doing something curious. “I noticed the guys coming in really quickly and I thought that was strange, so I lifted the camera and took a quick shot,” Rick Knoppert told PerthNow. The dramatic photo shows the four surfers paddling to shore with one of them looking directly at the dorsal fin of a massive shark. “I didn’t realize until I got it on the computer that there was a fin there as well,” Knoppert said. With his 600mm lens, Knoppert continued taking photos of the shark and the relieved surfers. “It was chasing

  • Parents try to teach baby to say 'mama' but the dog says it instead

This mom was focused on getting her baby to say "mama," by repeating the word over and over. The family dog sat by and wimpered until it turned into words where he can be heard mimicking the mother as he's saying "mama." It could be safe to say that the dog's motivation of imitating the sound was his desire for the food being waived in front of his face. Jealous of his quick studies, the baby pushes the dog away, still unable to say "mama."

  • A Complete Stranger Saved This Mom and Her 4 Kids but Wanted 1 Major Thing in Return

After Tawny Nelson's car broke down at night in the pouring rain with her four young daughters crying in the back, countless people just drove by as she begged for help. The single mother of four explained that things had been rough since her partner left - her vehicle was in such bad shape that she only drove if they absolutely necessary and her cell phone was disconnected. She and her children desperately needed groceries so they made a quick trip to the store. However, one of her girls accidentally left a light on in the car and they returned to a completely drained battery. "I must have asked more than twenty people in the course of two hours for a jump," she wrote to Frank Somerville, which

  • Trump’s New Legal Trap: Trial Over Florida Golf Membership Fees

Donald J. Trump has another legal trap to negotiate while on his campaign for the White House: angry golfers testifying against him. Trump’s already embroiled in legal fights on both coasts with former Trump University students complaining they were the victims of fraud and with celebrity chefs who pulled out of deals to open restaurants in his new Washington D.C. hotel. Now, a judge has ordered his company to go on trial next month in Florida over a dispute about unpaid golf membership refunds. Some members of the Trump National Golf Club Jupiter sued to get their money back after Trump allegedly changed the membership rules following his 2012 acquisition of the money-losing venture from Ritz-Carlton Hotel Co. for $5 million.

  • How newspapers covered the historic second day of the DNC

Former President Bill Clinton said Hillary Clinton never quits, and he recalled some of his primary campaigning this spring as proof. The former president offered a spirited defense of his wife’s tenure as secretary of state. He told Democratic convention delegates in Philadelphia that his wife was instrumental in protecting American interests, combating terrorism and advancing human rights. USA Today proclaimed Hillary Clinton the “FIRST WOMAN,” and the headline of the New York Times read, ”DEMOCRATS MAKE CLINTON HISTORIC NOMINEE.” (AP/Yahoo News) Follow our complete convention coverage here. • No, Megyn Kelly Should Not Have Worn That Dress

Megyn Kelly reported on the Republican National Convention while wearing a spaghetti-strap dress. The internet went crazy: people saying she was inappropriately dressed and people saying we should all shut up about her dress because "you go, girl," or whatever. Here's the deal: Society has norms, and when you go against those norms you're going to get backlash. There's a reason employees at Target wear khaki pants and red shirts, and the cashier at Burger King wears a uniform, and there's a reason you put on a suit when you go for a job interview. Your clothing is a symbol that indicates who you are. You don't see emo teens wearing pink party dresses, and you don't see biker gangs wearing tuxedos.
