The Patriots are apparently determined to sign as many wide receivers as possible this offseason. Earlier today, former Browns’ receiver Andrew Hawkins announce on Uninterrupted’s twitter account that he has signed a one-year deal with the Patriots.

The 31-year-old receiver spent the previous three seasons with the Browns. In 2016 he played in all 16 games and caught 33 passes for 324 yards and three touchdowns. He enjoyed a career year in his first season with the Browns in 2014, hauling in 63 balls for 824 yards and two touchdowns.

Hawkins joins a loaded receiving corps that features newcomer Brandin Cooks, Julian Edelman, Chris Hogan, Malcolm Mitchell and Danny Amendola. Hawkins recently received his Master’s Degree in sports management from Columbia University and aspires to be a general manager one day, but now it is all about winning.

“When I exited Cleveland I said that it was about joining a contender, and the Patriots are the contender. They’re the reigning champs,” Hawkins said. “And the program is top-notch, and you get the opportunity to play with the best quarterback and the best coach in NFL history. So it’s super exciting.”

Hawkins was offered more money from other teams but made it clear he wanted to join the contender. It will be tough for Hawkins to make the final roster with the aforementioned receivers already on the roster and undrafted free agent Austin Carr building momentum towards camp. The Patriots will need to make room on the roster for Hawkins as they have a full 90-man roster.
