Barcelona players hold minute's silence for terror victims as club expresses its 'utter disgust' over attack
Barcelona have expressed their sympathy and sadness after a suspected terror attack killed at least 13 people and injured dozens more on Las Ramblas in the city centre.
A vehicle crashed into a crowd of people on a pavement in a busy tourist area, one of the most well-known and popular parts of the city.
The team, preparing for their first league match of the season this weekend, held a minute's silence before training to pay tribute to those affected.
Barcelona confirmed that all players involved in Sunday's match against Real Betis will wear black armbands.
A statement read: "FC Barcelona wants to express its profound sorrow and utter disgust at the terrorist attack that has hit the heart of our city, la Rambla de Barcelona. The Club wishes to send our support and thoughts to the victims, their families and friends as well as the people of Barcelona and its visitors.
"As a mark of respect, the flags will fly at half-mast at the Club’s facilities and the players from both teams will wear black armbands in all the Club's matches this weekend.
Deeply saddened by the attack on our city. All our thoughts are with the victims, their families and with the people of Barcelona.

"On Sunday, before the 2017/18 La Liga opener against Betis, the Camp Nou will hold a minutes silence in recognition and memory of the victims."
The rest of Europe's top football clubs posted messages of solidarity and condolence, as well as Real Madrid stars Cristiano Ronaldo and Gareth Bale.
The two clubs faced each other in the Spanish Super Cup the night before the attack on Wednesday night, with Zindine Zidane's Madrid running out 5-1 winners on aggregate.

As did Luis Suarez and Gerard Pique. The defender is from Barcelona, and came through the ranks at the club's academy La Masia from the age of 10. His tweet reads: ' More than ever all together against this attack in our city. All my support to those affected by this barbarism.'
Més que mai tots junts contra aquest atac a la nostra ciutat. Tot el meu suport als afectats d'aquesta barbàrie. #Barcelona
