Nearly three quarters of working professionals demand a second Brexit vote and 75% say they would then vote to remain in the European Union. And only 3% of respondents say they would prefer May’s current deal, according to a new survey conducted by global professional services recruiter Morgan McKinley, which was sent to Yahoo Finance UK.

The firm surveyed 6,500 people, with financial (39%) and IT (26%) sector workers making the majority of respondents. The age ranges were 18-24 (3%), 25-34 (24%), 35-44 (32%), 45-54 (24%), 55-64 (14%) and 65+ (3%).

“An overwhelming 74% voted in favour of a second referendum. It is apparent there is a cross section of the UK who feel as though they deserve the option of determining the UK’s future relationship with the European Union,” said Hakan Enver, managing director of Morgan Mckinley.

“On the flip side, there is equal pressure from others who feel that democracy has allowed a decision to be made and that we should prepare for what the UK’s future looks like not being part of the EU.”

Earlier this week, another report from Morgan McKinley showed that Brexit was taking a “considerable bite” out of banking jobs. Month-on-month data in November, showed that there was a 4% decrease in jobs available and a 39% decrease in jobs available year-on-year.

The uncertainty over what the Brexit deal will look like when Britain leaves the European Union on 29 March has reached fever pitch. Overnight, EU leaders dealt a devastating blow to UK prime minister Theresa May’s hopes of getting help to push her Brexit deal through parliament.

“A second vote doesn’t clarify how to honour the first,” said one survey respondent. “It either just delays the process or gives the message to the electorate that if parliament doesn’t like your decision, we’ll ask you to keep voting until you vote the way we want.”
