2018 Emmys: Sarah Sophie Flicker Wrote 'Stop Kavanaugh' on Her Arm in Black Marker

And included Congress's phone number.

Though Monday night's 2018 Emmys, overall, were far less politically minded than other Hollywood awards ceremonies of the past year, several attendees still found ways to take a stand. One such activist was Sarah Sophie Flicker, who walked the gold carpet with her husband, Glow director Jesse Peretz. With her flamenco-esque red Rosie Assoulin dress and matching headband of large scarlet flowers, Flicker looked like the living embodiment of the dancing-woman emoji. Most striking about her look, though, was the message she had her husband write on her right arm in black marker: "Stop Kavanaugh." Underneath, she added (202) 224-3121, the phone number for the Capitol's switchboard, which will connect you to your representatives.

"Emmys ready," she captioned a pre-Emmys selfie, including a sample script for what to say if you take her advice and call your reps to ask that they halt the approval process for Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh, who has been accused of sexual assault. "For the Senate Judiciary Committee to move forward with a vote to confirm Brett Kavanaugh this week, without pausing for a thorough investigation of the allegations of sexual violence, would be a gross injustice and an insult to women. Stop the vote," wrote Flicker, an actor, director, and activist who helped organize the Women's March.

Alongside a shot of her and Peretz at the ceremony, she continued to show her support for Palo Alto University psychology professor Christine Blasey Ford, who came forward on Sunday to identify herself as the woman who had anonymously accused Kavanaugh in July of assaulting her the early 1980s, when they were in high school together. "Out here at the #emmys2018 believing Professor Christine Blasey Ford. Still believing Anita Hill. Shouting #stopkavanaugh," Flicker wrote.

Though the Senate Judiciary Committee was set to vote on Kavanaugh's confirmation this Thursday, the vote was delayed after Ford came forward. An additional hearing has now reportedly been set for next Monday (September 24), and will likely include testimony from both Kavanaugh and Ford. Kavanaugh has repeatedly denied Ford's allegations.
