First Look: Sarah Michelle Gellar Travels to a Galaxy Far Far Away for 'Star Wars Rebels'
Keeping their Star Wars love all in the family, Sarah Michelle Gellar will join her husband and self-confessed fanboy Freddy Prinze Jr. in a recurring role on Season 2 of Disney XD’s animated hit, Star Wars Rebels. The series, which takes place in between the prequel trilogy and the original trilogy and focuses on the burgeoning Rebel Alliance, recently wrapped up its first season with the re-appearance of a major franchise icon: Darth Vader.

While the Rebels creative team hasn’t revealed what character the former vampire slayer will be voicing, one hopes she’ll be friend — rather than foe — to Prinze’s surviving Jedi, Kanan Jarrus. At least her husband will have someone at home to geek out with; announcing the casting, executive producer, Dave Filoni (pictured above with Gellar), said, “[Sarah] is a true Star Wars Rebels fan and her passion undoubtedly comes through in the voice recording sessions.” Here’s hoping Prinze plans to return the favor when (not if) Buffy is rebooted as an animated series.
Star Wars: Rebels airs Mondays at 9 p.m. on Disney XD.
