Man Rushes Back into Burning Home in Heroic Attempt to Save His Xbox

When a mother’s child is in danger, the lore is that she can, in that moment, gather enough strength to lift a car up over her head to save him.

Who are we to assume that the circumstances between a young man and his Xbox are any different?

A Kansas man (name unknown) awoke to his house ablaze Friday morning and was fortunate to escape without harm, as reported by ABC15. However, once outside, and given the opportunity to gather himself and his thoughts, he returned to the inferno to save his Microsoft Xbox gaming console (model unknown).

Officials say the man came away from the whole incident suffering some symptoms of smoke inhalation but will be just fine. The Xbox is thought to be in working condition, though information about his controllers and headset is unknown.

You might remember that, when the Xbox One was released in November of last year, there were a few rumors that it was prone to catch fire if left on for too long; that issue does not seem to have proved true or widespread. And in 2008, an Xbox 360’s power supply was pegged as the cause of a home fire in Arkansas.

This fire, however, does not seem to have been caused by the Xbox; rather, the Xbox One itself had to be rescued. You can check out the ABC15 news blip about the man’s heroics below. Game on.
