Pippa Middleton's Something Old Has a Crazy Connection to Her Sister Kate
As the rhyme goes, brides must have something old and something new. For Pippa Middleton, the custom Giles Deacon gown she wore to say ‘I do’ on Saturday covered the latter. As for the former, she chose something with a special connection to her sister, the Duchess of Cambridge.
To fulfill the wedding adage, Middleton, who wed James Matthews at St. Mark’s church in Berkshire, a town outside of London, she turned to her own jewelry box. The earrings the 33-year-old had on with her lace dress for the intimate ceremony seemingly weren’t just selected at random considering they’re the exact pair she wore to Kate’s royal wedding to Prince William for which Pippa was a bridesmaid.
The diamond drop earrings were originally commissioned by the Middleton family in 2011 for Pippa from Robinson Pelham, according to The Telegraph. Part of a set, the Duchess’s earrings came from the same jeweler and feature an acorn and oak leaf motif, whereas Pippa’s are more floral-inspired. While Pippa has never confirmed as much, it’s believed that her engagement ring was also designed by Robinson Pelham.
What are Pippa’s something borrowed and something blue? Remains to be seen!
