To Make It to Prom After Her Old Navy Shift, Committed Employee Wears Gown to Work

Some young people will go out of their way to ensure prom is a wonderful, memorable night — such as one high school student’s date, who put forethought into ensuring she’d make it on time, despite having to work late the evening of the dance.

Alicia Davis, 20, knew she wouldn’t have much time to get ready for her boyfriend Chris’s prom after the end of her shift at Old Navy. To solve that problem, the sales associate decided to work in her prom attire.

She captured a few moments on the job — in her prom dress — and posted the images to Twitter.

“When prom is at 8 but you have to work until 7:30,” she captioned the post.

In the photos, Davis can be seen folding clothes in her burgundy gown and with her hair styled in a braided updo. She’s also pictured working behind the register and posing for photos with Chris in the clothing store.

The photos were loved by her followers — her post amassed more than 500 favorites and 60 retweets on the social platform. Davis also shared an image of Chris posing in his prom attire, comically comparing him to Clay Jensen — the male lead on the popular Netflix series 13 Reasons Why.

Davis told the Daily Mail that her prom stunt didn’t really shock any of her coworkers at the retail store.

“My coworkers thought it was funny,” she said. “I’m outgoing at Old Navy, so it didn’t surprise them that I would do something like this!”
