Kiersey Clemons is one of those actresses you’ve probably seen a million times, but whose name you don’t yet know. But believe this: Everyone will know her name soon — as much for the high-profile roles she’ll be playing (she’s Iris West in the new DC Comics films Justice League and Flashpoint) as for her inevitable spot on a bevy of best-dressed lists (her style has already been written about multiple times in Vogue).

The 23-year-old rising star’s growing résumé is a hodgepodge of dreamy roles — a multi-episode arc on Transparent, a meth-making teen in the indie hit Dope. Currently, Clemons is starring in the coming-of-age flick The Only Living Boy in New York alongside Callum Turner, Cynthia Nixon, Jeff Bridges, Kate Beckinsale, and Pierce Brosnan. Not too shabby. Clemons plays Mimi, the main character’s BFF/love interest and arguably the only character in the movie whose feet are planted firmly on the ground.

“I really like the space that she held in the movie,” Clemons tells Yahoo Style of Mimi. “She was the only honest person in the film, and even though she’s a bit confused, she’s very straightforward about what she’s feeling, she’s very present. I found that to be relatable.”

While Clemons is rocking it onscreen as some of the most independent characters out there, her impeccably cool offscreen style vibes, as well as her chameleon hair, are working overtime to make her the most Pinnable of style muses.

“Your clothes can really influence how you feel in the morning when you get dressed. Clothes can either make you feel really good or really s***ty,” she says. “I like very low-key. I’m always inspired by the low-key people and I’m like, ‘I see you! I see what you’re doing and I like it.'”

While making waves for her out-of-the-box looks, Clemons has been known to push the style envelope, including proudly flaunting her underarm hair.

Clemons tells Yahoo Style that it’s the chaos of beauty that really intrigues her. “I define beauty as not trying to cover up any type of messiness or getting rid of any type of imperfection and instead accessorizing it,” she says.

“Those are the things that the people who fall in love with you love the most. You know when you fall in love with someone and you love the smell of their armpits? It’s because it’s that messy stuff. It’s like, ‘It’s crazy that you’re so human, and I adore you so much.’”

Adding to that penchant for the real, Clemons says of her acting work, “My focus is to always just play an honest person, to give you a human being and not a façade.”

With a devotion to the realness both onscreen and off, Clemons is carving her own path in Hollywood, picking up plenty of fans along the way.

The Only Living Boy in New York is in theaters beginning Aug. 11.
