Rubio uses ‘Back to the Future’ to mock Clinton and Biden in new Web ad

“Back to the Future” fans around the world are celebrating Oct. 21, 2015, the day Marty McFly and Doc Brown time-traveled to in their DeLorean in the classic 1985 film. Among them: Florida Sen. Marco Rubio, who released a slick Web ad on Wednesday using the movie’s premise to promote his Republican candidacy — and mock Democratic frontrunner Hillary Clinton and Vice President Joe Biden’s potential bid as a return to the past.

“In 1989 we went back to the future. Now that we’re here, it’s more like a blast from the past,” text at the beginning of the ad reads before a video clip from last week’s Democratic debate rolls.

“Well, there’s a lot I would like to do to build on the successes of President Obama, but also what I’m laying out is to go beyond,” Clinton says as the ad cuts to a vintage clip from her time as first lady.

“What I represent is generational change,” Clinton says in the undated clip.

The minute-long spot then cuts to a speech by Biden during his failed 1988 presidential bid.

“I run for president because I believe the 1988 election at its heart can be reduced to a fundamental choice between two paths to the future,” Biden says.

“The future is now,” Rubio’s ad declares as audio from one of his own speeches is played: “Yesterday is over. And we’re never going back.”

Meanwhile, the Democratic Party’s Twitter feed used “Back to the Future” to take a swipe at the GOP.

The other presidential candidates have yet to join the #BackToTheFuture fun.

But Vermont Sen. Bernie Sanders may be forced to when he appears on “Jimmy Kimmel Live!” Wednesday night. Kimmel’s other guest is “Back to the Future” star Michael J. Fox, who is celebrating the 30th anniversary of the film.

Perhaps Sanders will ditch his trademark loose-fitting suit and tie for a “Bernie for the Future” T-shirt, available now in the Wonkette.com online store.
