Semi-Truck Hauling Trash Catches Fire in San Diego

Firefighters worked to put out a vehicle fire in San Diego, California, on Tuesday, September 27, according to the San Diego Fire Department (SDFD).

Video posted by the SDFD on Tuesday shows flames engulfing a semi-truck trailer in San Diego.

The driver of the truck, which was filled with trash, was on the way to a local landfill shortly before noon when he noticed smoke coming from the trailer, according to local news reports. KSWB-TV reported that the driver was able to pull over, detach the truck from the trailer, and drive the truck away, but the trailer was destroyed.

The fire department said that the “load of trash will be spread onto the roadway to extinguish it completely,” which prompted road closures in the area. Credit: SDFD via Storyful
