Semi-truck catches fire outside of Vernon

Just outside of Vernon Tuesday, an 18-wheeler caught fire but a quick response by Vernon fire crews stopped the blaze from spreading.

According to Texas Department of Public Safety Sgt. Dan Buesing, after the vehicle, which was carrying sea salt, caught fire the driver pulled onto the shoulder of the road.

The truck was ablaze and a small grass fire began at the site but was put out by fire crews. They remained on site to keep any secondary fires from starting.

No injuries were reported related to the incident.
