Nashville Fire crews are working to extinguish a barge on fire along the Cumberland River.

Crews were dispatched to 852 Visco Drive for report of a barge or dock on fire. When they arrived, they found a barge on fire in the water. Crews were attempting to extinguish the blaze from the dock as well as launching fire boat to fight the fire from the water.

There were no injuries reported, according to Kendra Loney, a spokesperson for NFD.

Crews were able to contain the fire after being called out around 5 p.m.

Loney said crews will continue extinguishing hot spots and will be leaving the scene.

"The barge was having welding work done earlier in the day in the shed that sits on it. Other than the shed, it was completely empty. A fire started shortly after workers concluded for the day," Loney said in a statement. "NFD crews were able to contain the fire using hand lines from equipment on the dock and did not deploy boats after assessing the scene further. There are no injuries reported. This is still an active scene.
