Man has 'medical emergency,' dies in custody at Autauga Metro Jail

PRATTVILLE —A 27-year-old man being held in the Autauga Metro Jail has died.

The man experienced a "medical emergency," Monday, said Chief Deputy Dave Hill. The inmate was attended by the jail nurse and 911 was called. He was taken by Prattville Fire Department fire medics to Prattville Baptist Hospital, where he was pronounced dead, Hill said.

No foul play is involved at this time, he said. The man's name is not being released pending notification of relatives.

An autopsy has been performed on the man and the investigation continues, Hill said.
