Kate Middleton and Meghan Markle Are Reportedly Bonding Over Motherhood

There are very few people in the world who create headlines at the level of Kate Middleton and Meghan Markle. But in the year since Markle married Prince Harry, many of those stories have been focused on an alleged "feud" between the two duchesses.

Pitting two high-profile women against each other in the media is nothing new, but things really took a turn for the ridiculous when it came to the Duchess of Cambridge and the Duchess of Sussex. Stories ranged from people claiming that Middleton and Prince William were miserable at baby Archie's christening and that Markle left Middleton in tears before the wedding. Royals expert Katie Nicholls told Glamour back in March that while the two may not be best friends (which is totally normal!) rumors of a feud were overblown.

Now it seems the two may be closer than ever before. A source tells People that their relationship is "strengthening." Another source says that during their Wimbledon outing last week, the two “were genuine and sweet together” and that after Markle's friend Serena Williams lost in the finals, “Kate put her hand out and rubbed Meghan’s back to console her.”

One big reason might be their now common role as mothers. “It illustrated a warm relationship between these women who have young babies and are in similar situations in their lives,” royal commentator Victoria Arbiter told the magazine. “They’re each a little more relaxed,” a source says. “They have more in common now.”

The duchesses and all their children were recently spotted at a charity polo match that Harry and William were playing in. Prince Louis was hamming it up for his aunt Meghan and cousin Archie while his mom beamed in the background. “Babies are a great leveler,” Arbiter said. “The minute you’re bonding over your stories and sleepless nights, suddenly all the stuff that mattered before doesn’t matter anymore.”

Another factor, reportedly, is the Sussexes' move to Windsor, which is “allowing them more time to be like family." That makes a lot of sense, as most people in the world don't live in the same house (albeit a giant palace) as their in-laws.

It's also not hard to surmise that the two have just simply gotten to know each other better over the past year, and that can often lead to a closer relationship. Whatever the reason, it's just nice to see some pleasant headlines about them both.
