Jeff Sessions is preparing to crackdown on one major drug

In an effort to reduce the number of violent crimes, Attorney General Jeff Sessions is getting ready to crackdown on marijuana growers, sellers and users, according to reports. Back in April, Sessions asked the Task Force to come up with a Reduction and Public Safety Issue by July 2017. At the same time there's also been a review on existing policies in the areas of charging, sentencing and marijuana. And now criminal justice reform advocates fear stricter enforcement will follow. The director of the Brennan Center's Justice Program told The Hill, "Sessions and other DOJ officials have been out there over the last month and explicitly the last couple of weeks talking about how immigration and marijuana increases violent crime we're worried there's going to be something in the recommendations that is either saying that that's true or recommending action be taken based on that being true." President Trump said during his campaign he wouldn't touch state's rights on marijuana. However the president has had a complicated history regarding his stance on the issue. "In terms of marijuana and legalization, I think that should be a state issue, state-by-state," Trump said in an interview with The Washington Post. "... Marijuana is such a big thing. I think medical should happen — right? Don't we agree? I think so. And then I really believe we should leave it up to the states." However Trump also called Colorado's legal marijuana industry a "real problem."
