CANAAN TWP. – One driver was killed and another injured after a head-on collision Tuesday on state Route 83.

The crash occurred just before 4 p.m. north of Britton Road, according to the Ohio State Highway Patrol.

According to the agency's news release:

The Freightliner driver, a 41-year-old Litchfield resident, was taken to Cleveland Clinic Akron General Lodi Hospital by Canaan Township Fire Department with injuries described as not life-threatening.

The Highway Patrol is continuing its investigation but said alcohol did not seem to be a factor in the crash. Both drivers were wearing seat belts.
