Body found in water near Ballast Point, Tampa police say

TAMPA, Fla. (WFLA) — Tampa police confirmed that a body was found off of Ballast Point Sunday morning.

A police spokesperson said a woman was found dead in the waters off of the neighborhood in south Tampa.

In an update provided by police at 10 p.m. Sunday, the identity of the deceased woman is 72-year-old Miriam Nordlinger, a woman who went missing earlier in the weekend. Investigators said there was no sign of foul play, and a medical examiner will determine the cause of death.

“Mental health crises can affect anyone in our community,” Chief Lee Bercaw said. “Our thoughts are with the family and friends affected by this tragedy as they navigate this difficult time.”
