'I'm done with him': Nancy Pelosi reacts to Donald Trump's comments she is 'nasty ... horrible person'

WASHINGTON – House Speaker Nancy Pelosi is so over Donald Trump.

“I’m done with him,” the California Democrat said Tuesday. “I don’t even want to talk about him.”

Pelosi, speaking at a fiscal summit sponsored by the Peter G. Peterson Foundation, brushed aside questions about Trump’s remarks last week that she is a “nasty, vindictive, horrible person.”

Trump lashed out at Pelosi during a Fox News interview in Normandy, France, in response to reports that she had told members of her caucus that she’d rather see him in prison than impeached.

Pelosi wouldn’t say Tuesday whether she’d told her fellow Democrats that she wants to see Trump behind bars. But she said it was inappropriate for the president to show such overt partisanship while in Normandy to commemorate the 75th anniversary of D-Day.

Pelosi said reporters asked her about Trump while she was in Normandy, but she refrained from going on the attack because it would have been improper to do so while on foreign soil.

“The president took a different tact,” she said.

Asked about the possibility of impeaching Trump, Pelosi acknowledged that some members of her caucus think he has committed impeachable offenses. But Democrats are "not even close" to having the majority of their caucus back impeachment, she said, arguing they have to make sure they have the strongest case possible before initiating such proceedings.

Impeachment is “not about politics,” Pelosi said. “It’s upholding the Constitution of the United States.”

And as for Trump’s personal attacks against her?

“My stock goes up every time he attacks me, so what can I say?” she said.

White House Acting Chief of Staff Mick Mulvaney spoke later Tuesday at the same fiscal summit and was asked about Pelosi's remarks.

"We're not done with her, and I doubt she's done with us," he said.

Mulvaney said he expects the White House and congressional Democrats to continue their dialogue on various issues, including government spending and the new trade agreement with Canada and Mexico.
