UPDATE: young Marquette man believed to be victim in deadly car fire

MARQUETTE COUNTY, Mich. (WJMN) — The undersheriff of Marquette County says a 23-year-old Marquette Township man is believed to be the victim of a deadly car fire that happened over the weekend.

We’re told Alex Duquette is thought to be the sole occupant, though police are waiting for the results of a DNA test to confirm this.

The undersheriff said their investigation shows the crash happened at a high speed with the the car leaving the roadway and hitting several trees before catching fire.

One person is deceased after a vehicle fire in Marquette County.

According to the Marquette County Sheriff’s Office, on March 15 around 9:50 p.m. deputies were dispatched to vehicle fire on County Road 492 near Everly Way. Upon arrival, deputies found a single vehicle fully engulfed in flames in a wooded area off of County Road 492.

The fire was quickly contained and put out by the Marquette Township Fire Department. A single victim was found in the vehicle. According to the sheriff’s office, the name of the victim will not be released at this time pending positive identification.
