Chewbacca Makes His First Appearance in New 'Star Wars' Charity Video

Thirty years after his last big-screen adventure, Chewbacca looks surprisingly spry and youthful — he even looks a bit like his son, Lumpy.

We’re not going to speculate just how everyone’s favorite Wookiee gained that sudden tightness around his eyes, but we do suspect that his contributions to the rebellion earned him more than a few galactic credits.

Speaking of big money, the first look at the new Chewie comes courtesy of a video for Omaze, which teamed up with J.J. Abrams and the Star Wars: The Force Awakens crew to raise more than $4.62 million for UNICEF over the last year, most of which came as entry fees for set-visit contests.

Along with many “thank you”s from the movie’s crew, we also got a brief glimpse of R2-D2 (above), who looks reinvigorated by the presence of BB-8, our favorite new rolling droid.
