Even If There's No 'Boba Fett' Season 2, We'll See Its Characters Again

The following contains spoilers for the Season One finale of The Book of Boba Fett.

Well, the strange, confusing, occasionally delightful, but more often upsetting journey that was The Book of Boba Fett Season One has finally turned its last page. The finale was... something! In a rare moment of decisiveness, Boba Fett killed Cad Bane. In a characteristic moment of decisiveness, Fennec Shand killed nearly all of Fett's rival leaders. The Rancor wreaked terror on Mos Espa, until Grogu told the creature it was naptime. Speaking of our favorite little green alien, Grogu said deuces to Luke Skywalker and returned to Mando. The cutest father and son in the galaxy reunited and hugged it out, which is certainly something we can all get behind.

Considering that so much time in this series wasn't given to Fett, you might be wondering if there will be a second season of The Book of Boba Fett.

Here's everything we know so far.

When Will The Book of Boba Fett Season Two Be Released?

Always one to hold its cards relatively tight, Disney hasn't announced plans for another season of The Book of Boba Fett yet. And, frankly, we wouldn't be surprised if Disney closed this particular book, leaving it as a limited series. Now that Boba is in a relatively settled place, you could imagine that Star Wars might use him in a supporting role going forward—possibly as soon as The Mandalorian Season Three.

What Will The Book of Boba Fett Season Two Be About?

The legacy and characters of The Book of Boba Fett will likely live on in one of two ways, which we'll break down here. The first option: We'll get a proper Season Two of the series, hopefully focusing more on Boba Fett this time around. At the end of the season finale, we see Fett and Fennec Shand strolling the streets of Mos Espa, seemingly achieving peace in their small corner of the galaxy. When and if new episodes come, we'd likely see—you guessed it—some sort of threat storm through town, forcing old man Boba out of his palace. Maybe Cad Bane comes back from the dead. The Hutt twins are still out there, somewhere. Hell, maybe even a few ghosts from Boba's days working for the Empire would come back to haunt him.

Now, the second option—which, again, we think is slightly more likely. With one season of The Book of Boba Fett wrapped, Disney will relegate Boba and his crew to cameo duty. Meaning: We'll see Boba & Friends pop up in future Disney+ series, now that their story has been told. The first appearance would likely come in the next season of The Mandalorian, now that Boba and Mando are firmly buddies who sometimes hire each other to kill their enemies. After a life filled with so much loss, it'd be nice to see Fett ride off on his bantha, into the double sunset. So to speak.
